Ballet dancer Louisa Best has lived up to her surname by competing in the final of the Youth America Grand Prix.

Louisa, head girl at the Kahli Lewis Dance Company in Dippenhall, came in the top ten in the world for her contemporary solo choreographed by Kahli Lewis.

She was then chosen by the International Contemporary Ensemble for a group piece - called Stars of Today, Meet Stars of Tomorrow - at the Youth America Grand Prix’s 25th anniversary gala in the David H Koch Theatre at New York’s Lincoln Centre.

Kahli Lewis said: “I am absolutely bursting with pride, and I know that Louisa will cherish this experience forever. It was a huge achievement to be selected for the ensemble and an honour to share the stage with the ballet greats - American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Royal Ballet School, Mariinsky Ballet, Stuttgart and Paris Opera, to name a few!”
