Twenty might be plenty, but it’s not fast enough for some motorists as their souped-up cars are waking up older neighbours in Farnham town centre
Castle Street residents complained to the town council at their September meeting about after-hours speeding and “machine gun” car exhaust noises on the 20mph road with councillor and mayor, Brodie Mauluka, acknowledging the problem.
Concerns have also been raised about the lack of crossing points on West Street with one saying: “Whilst young people can dart between cars and across the road, elderly residents are worried and would like to cross the road without fear of getting hit.”
Councillor George Hesse has raised the concerns with Surrey County Council while projects to improve safety on both roads feature on a Waverley Infrastructure Development Plan list.
But there’s been no indication of timelines with residents asking Farnham Town Council to make a direct case to SCC for action.
