A MAN has been banned from causing alarm, harassment or distress to the residents of a block of flats in Farnham under the conditions of an interim anti-social behaviour order obtained on Monday. The order prevents Ryan Brookes, 26, of Weydon Lane, from any behaviour likely to cause alarm, harassment or distress to any resident of The Forburys in Weydon Lane. The interim ASBO was granted at South West Surrey Magistrates' Court in Guildford after being sought by Surrey Police working in partnership with Waverley Borough Council, Raglan Housing Association and the local community. The order expires on May 30 when a full ASBO hearing will take place. If Brookes breaches the condition of his ASBO, he can be arrested. Farnham Neighbourhood Sergeant Paddy Mayers said: "We have had numerous complaints from residents of these flats about Brookes and his anti- social behaviour, which includes threatening and abusive behaviour towards his neighbours. "We have tried working with Brookes to resolve this situation and have warned him on several occasions that we would be seeking an ASBO against him if his behaviour did not improve. Going to court to seek an interim ASBO was used purely as a last resort." Sgt Mayers added: "Although we, in conjunction with Waverley Borough Council and Raglan Housing Association, have been successful in obtaining the interim ASBO, we need the community's help to ensure that it is enforced, and urge anyone who sees Brookes in breach of the order to get in touch with us straight away." Breaches should be reported on 999 in the event that it is happening there and then, with all other breaches to be reported on 0845 125 2222.
