Petersfield is set to turn blue this weekend as people will take to the streets as part of a fundraising event for cancer.

The second annual March for Men with Kev in aid of Prostate Cancer UK and PCaSO will take place on September 15, with 2.5k, 5k and 10k walks all starting at The Square at 10am.

The walk is named after Kevan Birkett, a much-missed friend, husband, father, brother and son who sadly lost his battle with Prostate Cancer in May last year.

Organisers said: “Since being diagnosed in 2021, Kev was so determined to raise funds and awareness of this terrible disease, and did everything he could to increase awareness and encourage other men to get tested.

“Last year was an incredible event and we walked together in Kev’s steps around Petersfield, and we raised £10,000!

This year’s fundraising target is £20,000 and participants will be donning blue as the colour is associated with prostate cancer awareness.

Ahead of the event on Sunday, organisers are still looking for extra help behind the stall from 9.30am to 12.30pm in The Square.

Speaking to Petersfield’s Shine Radio, a friend of Kev said: “Kev was a friend of ours and he touched all of our hearts. It is really important to raise awareness.”

If you are interested in participating, there’s a £5 registration fee that includes a Prostate Cancer UK T-shirt, no entry charge for children and dogs.
