A woman from Medstead is running the London Marathon on Sunday in aid of the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust.
Alison De La Pena, a 48-year-old NHS consultant clinical scientist, chose to support the charity after having an ectopic pregnancy – where an embryo grows outside the womb – in 2008.
One in 80 pregnancies is ectopic. The baby can never be saved and the pregnancy can put the woman’s life at risk.
Alison said: “It has long been an ambition of mine to thank the EPT for their support by taking on this challenge.”
