Forget hopping on a train – make The Cabin your next destination.

This little coffee shop, located next to Haslemere train station, has quickly become a go-to for commuters and residents alike, thanks to its quirky décor and welcoming owners.

Partners in life as well as business, Sarah Castleman and Max Evans are the joint owners of The Cabin.

The pair have just celebrated The Cabin’s one-year anniversary which has already received 71 five-star reviews and is frequently rated as serving the best coffee in town.

Sarah and Max moved to Haslemere from London and recognised the need for a London-style coffee shop, where people can get good coffee, fast.

“We really care about every step,” said Sarah. “From the coffee beans, to the coffee machine, to the milk we get from Goodwood – we’re really particular about our coffee and only want to serve the best.”

But coffee isn’t the only thing on the menu. Their hot drinks selection includes matcha, chai lattes, and a Vietnamese coffee that Sarah recommends if you’re after something strong and sweet.

The tea selection isn’t your usual chamomile and builders either. This reporter personally recommends the olive leaf tea if you fancy something subtle, or the seriously chocolatey coco-bean tea – which I will definitely be returning for.

Sarah and Max make their own teas, sourcing the ingredients and putting them into tea bags, ensuring a one-of-a-kind experience.

Smoothies and milkshakes were a best-seller in the summer, and there’s always a selection of pastries and baked goods, with the cinnamon rolls looking particularly tempting.

More savoury options are coming soon, with toasties, pasties, and sausage rolls set to appear by the end of September.

Sarah said the best part of the last year has been meeting their “morning crew”. “We’ve really become friends – they’re here every morning, and we can start making their order before they even walk through the door.”

Decorated in the same style as their home, The Cabin is a mix of bright colours and unusual art.

“We wanted to create something different, and there’s not a day that goes by without someone commenting on how cool it is,” added Sarah.

For those heading to London in the evening, or for anyone wanting something a little stronger, The Cabin also stocks a selection of beers, canned cocktails, and even bottles of wine.

Whether you’re coming or going, The Cabin should be a stop along your way.
