THANKS to the Sheephatch School Reunion Association visitors to East Bridge over the River Wey in Tilford now have a place to sit and reminisce.

A yellow ribbon was released by two former maths and PE teachers, Wendy Coxell, who was known as Miss Last (employed from 1964 to 1967) and Janet Rye (employed from 1972 to 1977), declaring the bench officially open.

The memorial bench, situated around an oak tree, was crafted by local man, Doug Lister. Its unveiling ceremony was toasted with Prosecco and apple juice.

Everyone was delighted with the bench, and group members hope many more old Sheephatchians, who were not able to make it on the day, will enjoy sitting on the bench under the shade of the tree.

A stainless steel plaque has been made, but has not yet been permanently fixed to the bench.
