IN January Piggy Banks Day Care Nursery in Wellington Lane, Farnham, entered liquidation and all the staff made redundant. But now two ladies are stepping up to the challenge to replace Piggy Banks with a new facility.

Rebecca Harraway and Helen Cole are partners in Caterpillars Childcare, a newly established independent nursery founded in January this year. It has no association with Piggy Banks or the previous owners.

Rebecca and Helen are committed to providing a nurturing and loving environment for children and ensuring that their individual needs are met.

Children will also benefit from a range of activities including languages, sports and music. Rebecca and Helen have had quite a journey getting the nursery ready for their open day on Saturday, July 9, before officially opening on Monday, July 11.

“It was a terrible thing that happened as it was unexpected, the staff were instantly made redundant and the parents were left stranded” said Rebecca.

“We want to bring the nursery back to the community offering employment and childcare. Helen and I have been working as child minders and enjoy working in childcare, and wanted to make more of a career for ourselves so decided to look into a nursery setting. We are so excited.

“We met with the previous staff and invited them to come and interview with us – they all seem settled in new roles but our door is always open and we have also met a few parents who again are welcome to return to us.

“The open day will run from 10am to 4pm, it’s a great opportunity to come and meet us and the staff, as well as look around the transformed building. We will do show rounds as well as discuss childcare needs. There will be activities for the children including a bouncy castle and there will be refreshments provided.”
