A Paralympic gold medalist inspired a “Gold Rush” at a school in Farnham as kids raised more than £4,000 for new sports equipment.
Kylie Grimes MBE recently visited Highfield South Farnham School as part of the Great Athletes campaign.
Grimes put reception pupils through a high-intensity interval training workout and the gave a talk on how she became an athlete and her journey to winning Paralympic gold.
The children were excited to see the gold medal she won at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo part of the mixed-event wheelchair rugby. She became the first-ever woman in the sport to receive a gold medal.
The school raised £4399.53 from the workout which will go towards sports equipment to continue their love for sport.
