WHEN Bordon's Weyford Junior School opened its doors in 1972, there were no computers or calculators, there were 36 pupils to a class, and the building was only half the size it is todayy.
On January 13, the pupils and staff celebrated the school's 40th birthday by holding a special assembly and sharing a huge anniversary cake.
Joining them were past staff and pupils of the school - two of the latter, Anita Tindall and Tracy Cross, having now returned to the school as teaching assistants.
Headteacher Jillian Myers was pleased with the way the birthday festivities had gone, including the assembly at which past pupils and staff talked about when the school first opened.
"Some of the past pupils are parents of present pupils, which the youngsters found hard to believe," she said.
To mark the school's landmark birthday, Weyford has expanded, with a new wing added a few years ago. And there are now more activities, a larger playground and, of course, pupils now work with computers!
