Business is about to pick up at an East Hampshire fruit farm as two appealing events are about to take place.

The Blackmoor Estate will hold its renowned and hugely popular Apple Tasting Day this Sunday from 10am to 4.30pm.

The free event gives visitors the chance to sample a wide variety of old and new apple and pear varieties grown in at the site.

Traditional favourites like Cox, Opal and Norfolk Royal Russet will be on the menu alongside new varieties like Spartan and Rubens.

Visitors and fruit enthusiasts can also improve their knowledge and get advice on apple identification from experts during an event that supports charities and celebrates local produce.

There’s a further treat as the dog-friendly event will include a rural craft fair and demonstrations, community fete, local produce stalls, horse and cart rides and a climbing wall.

Blackmoor Estate picking days
October 19 and 20 will also be apple picking days at the estate (Blackmoor Estate)

There will also be Morris dance, cakes and teas and plenty of opportunities to drink apple juice and cider.

The estate also held its first apple picking days last weekend with another scheduled for the weekend of October 19 and 20.

People who visit between 9.30am and 4.30pm will get the chance to stock up on seasonal favourites like Cox, Bramley, Egremont Russet, Conference, Comice and more, straight from the source.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own carrier bags or boxes and wear sturdy footwear, as the event takes place in the orchards, not the fruit sales area.
