The Liphook Carnival Committee held its annual meeting at the Peak Centre, with the many clubs and organisations who received money from the donations of last year's successful event attending.

The committee had £4,000 to give away, which was distributed to the Fire Service, St John Ambulance, Hampshire Police, Friends of Liphook Junior School and Liphook Infant School Parents Association, Little Cherubs nursery, the Over 60s, the Liphook Village Hall Committee, Matrix Majorettes, the Scouts and Guides, Hanover House, the Royal British Legion and both Liphook Village Surgeries.

Also awarded on the night was the Barry Pope Shield to Bethany Rowell (pictured), who is a committee member's daughter, who helps out at all Carnival functions. She was unanimously voted for by the committee to receive the award.

This year's Summer Fun Day is scheduled for Sunday, June 28 on the Village Green, which proved to be very popular last year with families and visitors.
