Alton School has been supporting Alton Lions’ Christmas collection.
The Lions have been collecting presents to distribute to local care homes.
A school spokesperson said: “To support this great initiative we asked our pupils to bring in items their grandparents would like, and they have given very generously.”
Lower school pupils from Year 3 to Year 6, led by lower school music teacher Holly Cowan, were recorded singing Christmas carols and their efforts were sent to the care homes to spread some festive cheer among their residents.
Pupils also designed and wrote Christmas cards for care home residents at The Lawn, Borovere, Marlfield and BrendonCare.
The spokesperson added: “The personalised messages are a wonderful expression of how important Christmas is both to the young and the old and the connection that there is between generations.”
Headmaster Karl Guest said: “On behalf of all of us at Alton School, I would like to send our warmest Christmas wishes to all Alton’s care home residents, staff and families. My deepest thanks go to everyone who cares for others in any part of our community and I hope they have a healthy and happy festive period.”
