CHILDREN at St John’s School took part in the annual Bunny Fun Run on Sunday, organised by the school’s PTA.
Places for People sponsored the event, which had the youngest children running a full 400m lap of the Churt Recreation Ground and then each successive year group running a greater distance.
This year there was also an additional 2km race for older children who had previously attended St John’s.
Olivia Harmer and Holly Cowan, race organisers, said: “It was a wonderful atmosphere and it’s really inspiring to see all the children challenging themselves, whatever their age, and supporting one another.”
Headteacher Gillian Morris said: “Once again, our fabulous PTA have come up trumps and organised another wonderful fundraiser!
“We are very grateful to Places for People for their generosity, to the local community for coming out to support this event and, of course, to all the parents and children who make the whole event possible!”
Twelve parents also challenged themselves this month, as they took part in the Surrey Half Marathon on Sunday, March 11.
They’ve managed to raise over £2,000 so far which will go towards a new PE equipment storage shed and interactive whiteboards for the classrooms.
St John’s mum and co-chair of the PTA, Tessa Finch, said: “As a school we very much believe that being active is an important step to take towards being healthy. We all found it pretty challenging but incredibly rewarding.”
