More patients visited A&E at the Royal Surrey County Hospital last month, with demand rising above the levels seen over the same period last year.
NHS England figures show 6,902 patients visited A&E at Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in October.
That was a rise of 3% on the 6,723 visits recorded during September, and 1% more than the 6,814 patients seen in October 2021.
The figures show attendances were above the levels seen two years ago – in October 2020, there were 5,364 visits to A&E departments run by the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
All of last month's attendances were via major A&E departments – those with full resuscitation equipment and 24-hour consultant-led care.
Across England, A&E departments received 2.2 million visits last month.
That was an increase of 9% compared to September, and a similar number as were seen during October 2021.
At Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust:
In October:
- There were 604 booked appointments, up from 593 in September
- 50% of arrivals were seen within four hours, against an NHS target of 95%
- 682 patients waited longer than four hours for treatment following a decision to admit – 10% of patients
- Of those, five were delayed by more than 12 hours
Separate NHS Digital data reveals that in September:
- No patients left before being treated
