ANSTEY Park played host to the Alton Boys Primary Schools’ annual football tournament which attracted 12 teams from Alton’s Primary Cluster schools,

They competed in two leagues with the top two schools playing for the overall Winner’s Cup.

The third and fourth place thems played for the Shield, while those in fifth and sixh battled it out for the Plate.

After some close fought semi-finals and finals, including three penalty shoot-outs, Rowledge were victorious taking the Winner’s Cup, ahead of The Butts, with Medstead and Binsted tying in third place.

Bentley won the Shield, beating Anstey Juniors while Bentworth and Wootey Juniors tied for third place.

Andrews Endowed ‘A’ claimed the Plate, ahead of Chawton, with Andrews Endowed ‘B’ team tying with Selborne in third place.

Organiser Leo Maliphant, Alton Primary Cluster PE teacher, said: “It was another well played and hard fought tournament played in great spirit at a fantastic venue.”

He thanked Alton Town Football Club for the use the Enclosure and Eggar’s School for providing helpers and referees.
