Rural sports enthusiasts will have a field day next weekend as a country show is returning to a Meon Valley estate.

The annual Hampshire Countryside Day returns to the Bereleigh Estate near East Meon next Sunday (September 15) with outdoor activities for all the family.

Gates open at 9.30am with visitors getting the chance to try their hand at archery, target shooting, clay pigeon shooting and fly-fishing.

Visitors can expect more than 100 stalls and there’s no chance of going hungry with plenty of local food options and tipples from Bowman Ales and Meon Ciders on tap.

Expect more wags than a footballer’s wedding with plenty for our four-legged friends. Highlights will include the gun dog scurry, the lurcher and terrier show, terrier racing and plenty of categories in the family fun dog show.

Winning pups will receive rosettes, cups and dog food vouchers with the top performers receiving a luxury 30-minute massage.

The ever-impressive horse and hound parade will return and there will be unmissable falconry demonstrations for audiences to watch throughout the day.

Anglers can keep it reel as there will be multiple chances to watch the pros with fishing demonstrations from Charles Jardine and Chris Green’s countryman shooting display.

The show is being held in aid of the Countryside Alliance and Hampshire & IOW Air Ambulance, with the latter running purely on donations. Entry is £15 on the day but you can book early at the Hampshire Countryside Day website at https://www.hampshirecountrysideday.co.uk/
