SAINSBURY’S has recalled several of its ’Deli Fillers’ products due to the presence of listeria monocytogenes in some of the range.
Products recalled include 220g and 385g packs of cheese and onion, chicken and sweetcorn, chicken tikka, coronation chicken, egg and bacon, egg mayo, seafood cocktail, tuna and sweetcorn and Be Good To Yourself tuna and sweetcorn Deli Fillers - all with ‘use by’ dates up to and including July 4, 2017.
No other Sainsbury’s products are known to be affected.
Symptoms caused by listeria monocytogenes can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.
However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.
Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babiels less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.
The Food Standards Agency advises anyone who has bought any of the above products not to eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
