DESPITE the inclement weather, Alton Infant School’s summer fete attracted a good turnout and raised more than £1,500 for school funds.

While outdoor activities were cancelled, there was plenty of fun to be had inside with activities ranging from hook a duck, guess the name of the teddy and guessing the number of Smarties on the cake to face painting and stalls selling homemade sweets, plants, gifts and goodies.

There was also a raffle, a lucky dip and refreshments galore, including pizza.

Infant school headteacher Jayne Broach said a “special thank you” to Home School Association chairman Alison Phillips and her team for their “organisation and hard work” and to Alton mayor Dean Phillips and police community support officer Craig Graves for “coming along to support us”.

The money raised will help to subsidise educational visits throughout the year, including Mill Farm petting animals, authors and dance workshops, as well as playground equipment and outside resources.
