WAVERLEY Abbey CofE Junior School in Tilford has gained the School Games Mark gold award for a fourth consecutive year.
The School Games Mark is a government-led scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.
Confirming Waverley Abbey’s 2018 award, Ally Reid, School Games Organiser for South West Surrey, said: “Waverley Abbey have a tremendous PE, school sport and physical activity offer spearheaded by a very driven and effective PE lead teacher.
“They provide extensive inter and intra school competitions for the extensive range of children at the school catered for by ability and attitude.
“They do well to engage the majority of their children in extra-curricular activity and utilise their trained sports leaders to further support planning and delivery.
“As it to be expected, Waverley Abbey continue to be a very well deserving GOLD school. Congratulations.”
Kate Redman, executive head teacher at Waverley Abbey, added: “We are delighted to be awarded the gold mark for the fourth year in a row.
“We are very proud of all that we have achieved and the ongoing excellent sports provision we are able to offer at Waverley Abbey.”
