Parker Fine Art Auctions’ next sale takes place on Thursday, April 6 at 11am in their saleroom in East Street, Farnham and also online.
It includes 345 lots of paintings, drawings and sculpture – by artists including Sir Joshua Reynolds.
The National Portrait Gallery is currently trying to raise £50 million to buy a Reynolds portrait for the nation.
The artist is unknown, but the painting dates from the early 20th century and is expected to fetch between £500 and £700.
Parker Fine Art Auctions’ sale will be on public view from Friday (March 31), open weekdays 10am to 4pm and weekends 10am to 2pm.
They will be providing free picture valuations on Saturday (April 1) from 10am to 2pm.
Parker Fine Art Auctions' March sale was a success with a diverse selection of art and antiques on offer. The auction house, founded in 2020 by Buffy Parker and Henny Smith, specialises in fine art and period frames, but this sale also included sculpture, easels, and frames.
One of the highlights of the March 9 sale was a bronze sculpture of a racehorse called 'Docklands Express' by Philip Blacker, a jockey-turned-artist born in 1949.
The sculpture sold for £2,000, surpassing its estimate of £1,200 to £1,800. Blacker has ridden over 300 winning horses, and his life-size sculpture of Red Rum is on display at Aintree Racecourse.
Another notable sale was a French carved giltwood frame dating from the 19th century. The frame was estimated to sell for £400 to £600 but sold for an impressive £1,800 to a French buyer.
The auction house also sold a large antique oak easel produced by London firm Roberson & Co for £2,000, surpassing its estimate of £800 to £1,200. Roberson & Co was founded in 1810 and was a major supplier of paint and materials to artists of the day, including Turner and William Morris.
Parker Fine Art Auctions prides itself on offering a varied selection of items at its monthly auctions. From Old Masters to contemporary installations, paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, antique maps, and frames, there is something for everyone.
The auction house also has a low vendor's fee of just £10 per lot, making it an attractive option for sellers.
