SUPERHERO tots came to the rescue at Petersfield Community Centre last Friday, raising £6,500 and counting for the baby charity Tommy’s.

The Superhero Sensathon fundraising event was run by Baby Sensory leader Nicola Ball at her classes in Petersfield, Havant and Chichester and was attended by more than 200 little ones dressed in superhero outfits – the youngest being just 11 weeks old.

Nicola said: “The babies adored the sensory fun, as they worked together to save the sun. They were fascinated by all the amazing light shows and their little faces were filled with wonder.

“Babies, and many parents, dressed up as superheroes – everyone from Spiderman to Wonder Woman, and even a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and Princess Leia.

“I originally hoped to raise £3,000, which seemed a huge target at the beginning, but I’m over the moon to say we’ve already raised £6,500, with more money to come.”

Organised nationally by Baby Sensory, which offers singing and dancing classes for children up to five years old, the Sensathon is raising vital funds to support Tommy’s research into the causes and prevention of miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth.

Nicola continued: “Tommy’s is such an important charity, and one that touches the lives of so many families.

“I’m so grateful to all the local businesses who supported our charity raffle, and most of all our wonderfully generous parents who made this an event truly out of this world.

“I’ve been running Baby Sensory classes on Fridays at the community centre for nearly four years, and this was such a very special day.”
