CHILDREN'S poet John Foster came armed with poems about teachers and families when he was the guest at Medstead Primary School on Monday at the start of their art week.
And they proved popular with the pupils who gathered in the main hall to meet him. A school spokesman said: "He had several very funny poems about teachers which the children thought were hilarious, but he also introduced several of his more serious works and later he chaired a question-and-answer session.
"His visit inspired some of our pupils to write their own poems again on the theme of teachers or members of their families."
Another guest during the week was Nicola Heeson, from Amery Hill School, who talked about art with the pupils and also showed them how to start painting their own pictures.
Pupils have also been studying patterns, both those created by objects at the school or in the grounds and from their research they are making a large collage which will be on display later in the term.
They are also taking part in a Trail Blazer day to help with their art studies and the school have also entered the Hampshire Music Five Note Challenge to create a tune with just five notes.
