Families were given an opportunity to get close to tortoises when Haslemere Educational Museum staged a ‘meet the tortoise’ event.

More than 100 people went along and gathered round in groups to see Dr June Chatfield’s tortoises.

June was on hand to answer their many questions.

“The children were very excited to meet the tortoises and everyone was fascinated by June’s explanations about tortoises and how to look after them,” said Kay Topping, the museum’s education officer.
