WHITEHILL Town Council has a vacancy for a councillor in the Pinewood Ward.
The town council would like to co-opt a person onto the council who has "sound knowledge and understanding of local affairs" and the local community.
"A councillor's role is to listen to and represent the views and interests of the community as a whole through being well inf-ormed on local issues and by consultation with local people," acting town clerk Chris Youngs said.
A councillor is part of a "corporate body" and should work with all members of the council to make legal and responsible decisions as a whole body.
He said that a candidate should have "good interpersonal skills, have the ability to communicate succinctly, and the ability and willingness to represent the council and its community, an ability and willingness to work closely with other members and to maintain good working relationships with all members and staff.
Anyone interested should write to: Acting town clerk Chris Youngs, Whitehill Town Council, Council Offices, Forest Community Centre, Pinehill Road, Bordon GU35 0BS by May 10, giving the reasons why they wish to be a councillor.
The council will then consider who to co-opt at a future meeting.
