Farnham’s town crier awarded special gifts at a recent council meeting in September.

Michael Stephens awarded the Farnham Town Council with a framed copy of last year’s proclamation to mark the King’s coronation.

The proclamation was presented to the town mayor Cllr Brodie Mauluka. Only five editions of the proclamation are signed, framed and stamped with the town’s seal.

The first copy was sent to Buckingham Palace, the second is now home at the council building and the rest will be auctioned to raise money for local causes and charities.

The proclamation was one of the first big events for Mr Stephens who was appointed Town Crier in April last year. Following a selection process that involved penning and delivering a “crie” about Farnham at the bottom of Castle Street.

Mr Stephens can often be seen making “cries” at Lion and Lamb Yard and other locations in the town to announce the start of events.
