East Hampshire District Council is working with Everyone Active in providing free physical activity courses for people with diabetes and free health and well-being opportunities for those who could benefit from a more active lifestyle.
Both courses have been designed to help people get back on their feet or prevent their condition from worsening.
There is a 12-week programme for those diagnosed with type-2 diabetes or pre-diabetes who would like to be more active but find the idea of exercising daunting.
Sessions are being held at the Taro Leisure Centre in Petersfield on Mondays at 9.30am - the first was on September 9 - and at Whitehill & Bordon Leisure Centre on Fridays, starting September 13.
Anyone who wants more information or wishes to book a place on this programme should send an email to [email protected]
The East Hampshire Health and Wellbeing Programme is a six-month scheme which aims to improve the health and well-being of people by encouraging long-term participation in physical activity.
Targeting people who suffer from, or are at risk of developing, chronic medical conditions, it provides support to patients whose health could benefit from a more active lifestyle.
Discounts to access the service are available, and further support is also accessible for certain individuals in receipt of universal credit or other qualifying benefits, subject to terms and conditions.
People can be referred on to this service by their GP or another health professional, or they can self-refer by completing a form on the Everyone Active website.
