Twenty years of revelry were celebrated in a village west of Petersfield at a fundraising event in a field of its own.
The recipients and name may have changed but Stroud Revels still brings in the crowds two decades after the first.
The family-friendly event organised by the Stroud Village Hall & Social Committee started life as ‘The Tin Hut Festival’ back in 2004.
It was named after the original village hall – affectionately known as ‘The Old Tin Hut’ – with the aim of raising funds for the venue while providing a get-together.
The village now has a new hall and Revels has grown in scale with Fiona and Mark Rowden hosting the July 27 shindig at New Buildings Farm.
Revellers got the chance to fly a helicopter as the event recipients Hampshire & IoW Air Ambulance brought along their ‘van sim’ to simulate the experience.
There was plenty for youngsters to enjoy with Enchanted Bubbles, face painting, gladiator jousting and a bouncy castle, while Charlie Rogers and the Charlie’s Baa team served up real ale before a joining a tug-of-war.
Food was provided by Sizzling Kitchen pizzas and Matt’s Hog Roast while MochaTado served up coffee and sweet treats.
Talented local artist Hollie Hunt and her band kicked off an evening of live music before Liss four-piece The Bluestone Bills had the crowd singing along to their classic country songs.
They were followed by the soulful tones of Bryony Heart before The Fabulous Fog closed with a terrific set that had everyone dancing.
Victoria Wallace and her volunteer team of Anna Howard, Sarah Gent, Catherine Prior, Lynda Hooper, Sarah Dominey, Heather Coulson, Fiona & Mark Rowden and Andy & Angharad Snow made the day a great success with the SVARA thanking them for their considerable efforts. See you on July 26, 2025.
