TRAINEE pilot Flight Lieutenant Lillie Weaver from Bordon sings the first verse of Dame Vera Lynn’s ’We’ll Meet Again’ in tribute to VE Day 75.
She is standing in front of one of the Juno helicopters that she is learning to fly at No 1 FTS based at RAF Shawbury.
RAF warrant officer, Nick Williams said: "Her voice was so haunting in the hangar that we didn’t think she needed a backing track."
Lillie is a member of the RAF Spitfires Choir whose members sang this song this week on the RAF Facebook page.
The Spitfires Choir is the RAF’s only choir, consisting of regular and reserve personnel, veterans and MOD civil servants whose work brings them into the RAF Whole-Force family.
It is an amateur ensemble, in the best sense of that word, as its members are serving in important jobs across many different branches at bases all over the UK: engineers, aircrew, intelligence, medical, admin and a host of other vital roles are represented, all coming together with the common goal of being the best possible cultural ambassadors for the service.
