THE Rural Life Centre will wind back the clock to the 1940s and 50s this summer for its first ever Rural Life Vintage Revival festival.
Taking place over the weekend of September 2 and 3, the family-friendly festival will perfectly compliment the rustic surroundings of the open air museum near Tilford.
It promises a wealth of entertainment for all ages, from dance classes to makeovers, stalls and live music throughout.
Farnham Maltings’ resident dance company The Dance Movement will be offering tuition and demos on both days in 1940s and 50s dances, accompanied by the tones of a Glenn Miller tribute band.
Continuing the theme, an evening tea dance will also offer visitors the chance to show off their jive and Lindy hop on the Saturday.
All visitors are welcome to dress up for the occasion, and Paula’s Vintage Parlour will help guests complete (or create) the look with vintage hair styles to full makeovers.
Paul Fitchett Images will be taking photos of people once they have had their makeovers.
It is hoped vintage films will be shown in an open-air cinema, and there will be a display of hot rods and other vintage cars of the era as well as numerous stallholders selling wares from the 1940s, 50s and 60s.
Frensham Brewery, based at the nearby Pierrepont Farm, are in line to run the bar, and refreshments will be available at the Rural Life Centre’s cafe.
• Organisers of the event are still on the lookout for more stallholders - anyone interested can get in touch via the ‘Rural Life Vintage Revival’ Facebook page.
