ALL Grayswood Primary School supporters are urged to vote to back its bid to win a £25,000 grant to fund a new play area that village youth and community groups can enjoy too.

The Grayswood Gets Active project will provide an activity zone to replace the school’s “tired, uninspiring, grey playground”, which is all that was left following the recent compulsory expansion from infant school to primary school.

The £25,000 would go toward a new shelter, activity trail, trim trail, interactive panels and floor games.

School fundraising co-ordinator Helen Linnell said: “We have successfully got through to the second round of the OneFamily Foundation community awards grants scheme. We lost 35 per cent of our playground and green spaces to accommodate the new school buildings and have been left with a tired, uneven expanse of grey concrete.

“It would mean the world to our children if we were to be successful. We also want to open the playground to local youth and community groups. In order to win, we need the most votes. It is all or nothing and we are competing against nine other schools from across the UK.

Grayswood are currently second and voting closes at noon on Wednesday.

Voting is free and open to anyone aged 18 or over. To vote, visit foundation.onefamily.com and search for Grayswood early years play space project.
