A Waverley resident could win £200 in gardening vouchers by dishing the dirt on how the borough’s 2.3million square metres of green space could be managed.

Waverley Borough Council has launched an online Greenspaces survey to get feedback on how well its parks and treasured open spaces are being maintained.

The council wants to gauge opinion on how they performed in areas such as grass cutting and the cleanliness of its parks, play areas and green spaces in general.

There’s a big incentive for green-fingered residents to take part in the survey as participants could be in with a chance of winning £200 in gardening vouchers.

The council really dug the responses in last year’s survey as they prompted WBC to reduce pesticide use and set aside more areas for wildflowers to benefit pollinators.

There has also been increased usage of electric vehicles and machinery with all cuttings and green waste being composted and used on local sites or offered to allotments and community gardens.

“We are fortunate to have such beautiful green spaces in Waverley and we aim to maintain them to a high standard,” said Cllr Steve Williams, WBC portfolio holder for environment and sustainability.

“It’s crucial to understand where our contractors excel and where are improvements are needed, so I encourage residents to participate.

“Plus, you could win £200 in gardening vouchers to spruce up your own garden.”

Residents have until 5pm on December 15 to complete the survey at https://shorturl.at/WJnKO
