WAITROSE has waded back into the Battle of the Supermarkets with a spirited defence of its position as first choice to build a supermarket next to Alton Station.

Discovery Properties – the developer leading the Waitrose bid – has further confirmed that it has a contract on the land in question which it has no intention of selling to Morrisons.
