Twitchers and bird groups in Farnham are asking for members of the public to flock together to keep a keen eye out for Three Little Birds.

Tice Meadow Bird Group (TMBG) has a message to you-oo-oo to keep an eagle-eye out for three Robins with yellow-coloured rings.

The group would like people to record the date time and location of when they see the birds and report back to them. This is because the group expect the birds to fly the coop as they head to local bird feeders for more food in winter.

The birds AA, AB and AC can be identified easily as “Singing sweet songs of melodies pure and true” and their distinctive red breast.

The Tice's Meadow Bird Group have been bird ringing on site for over a decade, which is a part of their award-winning biodiversity monitoring programme.

The team is led by members of the Army Ornithological Society and the Royal Navy Bird Watching Society, and they are training a number of new bird ringers.

The bird ringing will generate information on the survival, productivity and movements of birds, helping the group to understand why populations are changing.

Ringing data makes a contribution to the study of population changes and to the groups understanding of species declines.

The results will be analysed with population trend data, to determine at the stage of a bird’s life cycle there might be a problem. This enables scientists and conservationists to help prevent issues the bird’s face.
