Waverley Borough Council showed its appreciation of the work of the Armed Forces on Monday by raising the Armed Forces Day flag.
The annual ceremony was held at the front of the Waverley Borough Council offices in Godalming to formally support those who have served in the armed forces.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Waverley, Denise Le Gal, the deputy mayor, Mary Foryszewski, the leader of the council, Julia Potts and councillors and staff at Waverley.
Andrew Smith, head of strategic housing and lay minister at King’s Church, Chessington, led a short service before the flag was raised by CSgt Marcos Morley and Pte Alfie Foskett representing the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment.
The Mayor of Waverley, Denise Le Gal, said: “I would like to thank everyone for attending today’s event, our support for the Armed Forces provides a much valued morale boost for the troops and their families”.
