The streets of Farnham will fall silent this weekend as the town remembers those who gave their tomorrows for our today.

Farnham’s annual Remembrance Parade and Service will take place this Sunday with the parade leaving Castle Street at 10.25am ahead of a service at the war memorial 20 minutes later.

A two-minute silence will be observed at 11am followed by the sounding of The Last Post, readings, and the laying of wreaths.

Members of the armed forces, uniformed services and youth organisations will participate in a march past following the ceremony with the mayor of Farnham and visiting dignitaries taking the salute outside the Town Hall.

Temporary road closures will be in place with the Park Row to The Borough section of Castle Street closed from 10am to 10.30am.

A rolling road closure from 10.20am will affect The Borough, South Street and Victoria Road with the section reopening once the parade has cleared the Union Road junction.

South Street from Hickley’s Corner to Union Road will be closed until midday while the section from the former to the Victoria Road junction will be closed for 11.30am for 15 minutes to allow the parade to conclude.

Farnham Town Council is organising the event in collaboration with the Royal British Legion. Anyone wishing to lay a wreath should call 01252 712667 or email [email protected]

Additional Remembrance Sunday services will be held in Badshot Lea, The Bourne, Hale, Rowledge, Weybourne and Wrecclesham.

Meanwhile, FTC is after a hand as they’ve called on volunteers to join a litter pick around the town centre from 10am to midday this Saturday. The event aims to get the town looking its best for the Remembrance Day parade.

All litter-picking equipment and complimentary refreshments will be provided, to sign up email [email protected].
