YOUNG players from across the area battled it out in the Farnham town junior tournament at Brightwell Tennis Club last week.

The under-17s singles final was a tight match with James Dix, from Farnborough, narrowly defeating home player Will Rees 2-6, 6-1, 10-4.

In the under-14 singles final, Sam Bishop, from Brightwell, produced an excellent display to defeat last year’s winner, Will George from Farnborough, 6-2, 6-3.

The under-11 final was a close affair between Caleb Walker and Ben Ellerington, both from Brightwell. Caleb eventually emerged as the winner 6-3, 7-6.

The under-nine boys ‘orange’ tournament was won by Alistair Goldsworth, who defeated Oliver Anderson 7-3, 7-6 in the final, and the girls’ winner was Daisy Ward.

In the under-17 doubles, Will George and Bertie Bamber, from Farnborough, beat Marcus Johnson and Sean Summers, from Brightwell, 6-4, 6-2.
