As 2024 draws to a close, it’s time to take stock of what has been achieved and what must be prioritised in the year ahead.
This has been a year of challenges for many in our community, but also one of resilience and determination.
Locally, I have made it my mission to ensure your voices are not only heard but acted upon in Westminster.
Whether it’s addressing transport issues, SEND and independent education, or ensuring our businesses and high streets thrive, I have been working to push for practical solutions that deliver real results.
In recent months, I have been focusing on improving access to fast and reliable broadband in our communities. While progress has been made through ongoing conversations with broadband suppliers and the Government, there is much more to do.
In the new year, I will be working with these companies on the results of my constituency-wide survey, starting with Openreach in January.
Yet what we’ve seen instead is record illegal Channel crossings, punitive policies on our farmers and independent schools, and pensioners facing a cold winter without their Winter Fuel Allowance. This is not good enough.
I will not hesitate to hold ministers to account when they fail to meet their obligations, while also offering credible Conservative alternatives that prioritise competence and community.
By scrutinising policy decisions and their impact on our area, I am ensuring the concerns of our community are not ignored. In 2025, I will continue to challenge poor decisions, advocate for real action, and ensure accountability at every level of government.
Looking ahead, my focus remains clear: delivering for our community and 2025 must be a year of tangible results.
This includes supporting our hospitality businesses, restarting conversations on major infrastructure like the Wrecclesham Bypass, creating opportunities for young people in Liphook, and safeguarding vital public services such as healthcare in Bordon and bus services in Haslemere.
Farnham is set to receive an infrastructural overhaul in the coming months. While this will cause disruption while works are ongoing, it will ensure the town is equipped to deal with future demands.
Our area deserves more than warm words from this government; it deserves leadership, competence, and a relentless commitment to making things better.
Thank you to everyone who has engaged with me throughout the year – whether at surgeries, community events, or via email.
Your insights and ideas continue to shape my work. I look forward to working alongside you to make 2025 a year of progress and opportunity.
