Easter is over! Or is it? We have enjoyed the Easter rituals of Palm Sunday, Good Friday and the day of Resurrection not to mention Easter Eggs, family outings and meals!

We are left with a question: ‘What difference are the events of Easter going to make to the rest of our lives?’

Jesus, appearing to his disciples after his resurrection, said: “Peace be with you. As the father has sent me, I am sending you.” (John 20 v 21)

Undoubtedly those first disciples must have felt confused, lost but then overjoyed to have Jesus with them again.

He first calmed their fears at his risen presence then tasked them with engaging in the world sharing the message of God’s love in the everyday lives of ordinary people.

As the disciples of Jesus were charged with the practical work of sharing love with all people so are we today.

This task can take a variety of forms of practical activity.

Where there is need let us find a way to meet that need.

Are there lonely people who would appreciate a visit? Are there people without their own car that would like/need a lift? Are there sad people who need to talk?

Maybe the ongoing effect of love shown at Easter is to notice these people with a need and act on it!

Even a smile to a person in trouble can make a difference.

If everyone took the responsibility to do this how many happier people there would be in the community?
