Alton fell to a 43-run defeat at Lymington in the Southern Premier Cricket League Premier Division on Saturday.
Captain Scott Myers lost the toss and was surprised when Lymington opted to bat first.
Wickets fell fairly regularly as the home side looked to score. Kamran Dhariwal (47) was the mainstay of the innings before he was stumped by Mark Heffernan off Dan Sumner’s second ball.
Lymington plummeted to 128 for eight, but Asad Abbas and Liam Thompson played their shots. Abbas blasted 58 not out and led Lymington to 206 for nine.
Alton lost Jude Wright in the first over. When Dan Harris was caught, Alton were 15 for two.
Ben Rolfs (22) and Tom South (20) got in, but wickets fell regularly.
Myers (53) was the last wicket to fall as Alton were bowled out for 163.
Alton’s second team beat Hayling Island by two wickets.
Tom Andrews (four for 23) was the pick of the bowlers as Alton bowled the visitors out for 190.
Alton slipped to 144 for eight, but Wilf Bridger (32 not out) and Arul Appavoo (24 not out) saw the Brewers home.
Alton’s third team beat East Woodhay’s second team by 137 runs.
Andy Pearce hit 87 as Alton scored 265 for seven. Lee Partner (three for 15) and Luke Crook (three for 23) were in the wickets as Alton bowled the hosts out for 128.
Alton’s fourth team beat Frensham’s fourth team by four wickets. Jamie Craig (two for 15) was the pick of the Alton attack as Frensham scored 134 for six.
Cam Rhodes (42) got Alton’s reply off to a bright start, but they then slipped to 65 for five. Skipper Martin Green (35 not out) saw Alton home.
Alton’s women lost by seven wickets against Odiham & Greywell.
