Farnham fell to a third Surrey Championship Division Two defeat in a row with a 25-run loss against Cheam on Saturday.

Rob Goldsworthy won the toss and elected to bowl first. Goldsworthy took the first wicket in the third over, bowling Faizan for a duck. Farnham took their second wicket when Michael O’Mahony dismissed Khan for 14. O’Mahony struck again when Eman Shaikh edged behind to Guy Hicks for 15, before Jake Henderson removed Arif for 23. Peter Brown (four for 37) came back into the attack with Henderson (three for 37) at the other end, and the pair restricted Cheam to 174 all out.

Farnham’s reply didn’t get off the best of starts with Hicks falling for two. Harry Morrogh was next to fall, before Thorpe was caught behind for 17. Farnham fell to 50 for six when O’Mahony was dismissed. Tom Grimes (62 not out) and Brown produced a 51-run partnership as Farnham were bowled out for 149.

Farnham travel to fellow strugglers Chipstead Coulsdon and Walcountians CC on Saturday.

Farnham’s second team slipped to a six-wicket defeat against Hampton Wick on Saturday.

Farnham captain Dan Wakely elected to bat first. Wakely opened the batting with Haris Khan and the pair put on 42 before Wakely was caught in the slips for 19. Two more wickets fell quickly and Farnham found themselves needing to rebuild at 53 for three.

Khan continued to play nicely until he departed for 21, but some positive striking from Alex Kardamilakis (24) and Will Kirkland (25) looked to be setting Farnham up for a competitive total. Evan Mann made a patient 20 but was offered little support by the lower order as Farnham stumbled to 150 all out.

In reply, Farnham opening bowler Jake Hayden picked up the early wicket of Sashi Asokan. Ollie Kirkland bowled with good pace to pick up three for 37 and reduce the hosts to 80 for four. Hampton Wick counter-attacked and eased to their target inside 30 overs.

Farnham’s women’s softball cricket team beat Grayshott Strikers. Farnham batted first and scored 314 for three. Grayshott scored 230 for eight.
