Petersfield’s second team finished their Hampshire Division Five South East campaign with a seven-wicket victory at home to Rowner.
Petersfield skipper Steve Gibson won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Gibson (two for 21) dismissed Rowner opener Harry Cox (six) early on, while Georgie Russell (two for ten) accounted for Cris Kemp (14).
Rowner captain Lewis Haines (61) set about steadying the ship with Lee Phillips (16), but Phillips was soon removed by Russell.
Petersfield spinners Rich Stephens (one for 22) and Tom Horwood (two for 31) bowled tidy spells as the hosts restricted the visitors to 158 for eight from their allotted 40 overs.
Petersfield openers Tom Horwood and Jake Hastie strode to the middle to begin proceedings. It was Petersfield who had the better of the opening exchanges – despite some late swing and seam movement from both ends – with Horwood in particular taking a liking to the idea of knocking the total off with a minimum of fuss.
The field was spread early to attempt to contain Horwood’s onslaught, but once set he looked untroubled, timing the ball cleanly and helping the Petersfield pair to score in excess of a run a ball.
Horwood hit two straight sixes in short succession, the second of which was a lofted straight drive over long-off to bring up his half-century from 41 balls.
Horwood took only another nine deliveries to make it to 70 before eventually succumbing to his attacking instincts and being bowled by Phillips to end an entertaining knock.
With the back of the chase broken, it was down to Hastie (25) and Ned Kelly (16) to progress towards the total.
Hastie and Kelly were both dismissed by Craig Payne (two for 38), but James Longland (29 not out) and Stephens (six not out) saw Petersfield home to victory in the 28th over.
