SHALFORD and Fernhurst finish first and second in the I’Anson Division Three. Both teams won their final matches after a two-horse race for the title, but it is Shalford who claim the Miller Cup as champions.

Shalford ended on an emphatic note, beating Blackheath II by ten wickets. Satyarajesh Ravipati, skipper David Shilcock and Dave Rowe shared the wickets as the home side were bowled out for 116, with number 3 Fred Martin-Dye making 46.

Blackheath then used eight bowlers in their fruitless attempts to dismiss Peter Unsworth (63 not out) and James Crutcher (48 not out) who knocked off the runs in 23 overs.

Fernhurst’s top order failed for once, with Andy Robertson again bowling well for lowly Bramley. Tristan Rissik came in to play a captain’s innings of 44 and with the lower order backing him up manfully, the visitors recovered to post 175 all out.

Nick Hyett made a good 38 for the home side’s ten men who were bowled out for 90 in 27 overs. Rissik, having an excellent day, took 4 for 8 in eight overs.

The long-serving pair of Nick Randall (85) and Wayne Moulds (95 not out) ended the season with a flourish as Kingsley piled up 248-8 against Grayshott III.

Tom Bussell (41) and Cameron Clarke (31) led a spirited reply by a depleted Grayshott who were dismissed for 143 in the 39th over. Captain Oli Cooper claimed 6 for 37 in 13 overs.

After a successful first tour abroad, Tongham signed off with a good win over Tilford II. The wet wicket did not trouble Ben Gray who completed a sublime century for Tilford. But Tongham’s bowling was stingy and the visitors were restricted to 180-4 in 48 overs.

Tongham began brightly, although it was not until the hard-hitting Dave Walsh (71 not out) came in that victory looked likely. He and Matt Carrington (61 not out) shared a match-winning 100 partnership, with both players recording unbeaten half-centuries. A good game to end an eventful season.
