I’ANSON Division Three leaders Brook cruised to a ten-wicket victory at Peper Harow, while Tongham moved above Tilford II into the second promotion place.
Peper Harow elected to bat and lost four batsmen cheaply before a good stand of 42 between Nathan Swansborough and Kamran Choudhary improved the situation.
However, when Swansborough was out for 35, wickets tumbled and Peper Harow were bowled out in the 32nd over for 102. The pick of the bowlers was Paul Challinor who took 4-22 in 10.3 overs, despite having three catches dropped off his bowling.
Brook negotiated the 15 minutes before tea and then the openers made short work of the modest target, passing it in only 13.4 overs. Ed Bishop scored a rapid 65 not out, ably supported by Toby Pheasant (34 not out).
Tilford II, ravaged by holidays, lost to bottom side Kingsley who gave their best batting performance of the season. Inserted at the Green, Tilford batted steadily without breaking the shackles of the bowlers. Chris Wilson (88), Hamish Macdonald (44) and Alistair Macdonald (30) all had good knocks, but a midway total of 190-7 did not really look enough on a good pitch and quicksilver outfield.
And so it proved. Kingsley openers Wayne Moulds (70) and Matt Cooper (58) looked in no trouble against an ordinary attack and at 155-0 after 30 overs, the game was as good as over. Martin Knott picked up two wickets, but Kingsley completed their first win of the season in the 41st over.
Tongham, inserted by Thursley, totalled 194 in 42 overs. Mark Andrews scored a fine 55 after openers Adam Farrier (24) and Matt Carrington (32) had given the home side a good start.
Thursley also began well and a half-century by Andy Robinson (54) had them well placed for victory. But wickets then tumbled to Matt Carrington and Cook (4-21). Derek Agge, who had earlier taken 5-44, hit a defiant 32 not out, but Thursley were bowled out for 132.
Bramley eased their relegation fears with victory over Dogmersfield II. A century opening stand between Ali Holmes (59) and Tim Fraser (49) and middle-order knocks from Kevin Street (32) and Nick Hyett (32 not out) enabled the home side to post 219-5.
Skipper Subhani made 32 for Dogmersfield before being given out ‘handled the ball’. His side were within four balls of saving the game when Dan Burstow claimed the last wicket to finish with 6-29 in 12.2 overs.
Frensham III, after a bright start by openers Ben Harrison (34) and Steve Wallace (23), toiled to 130 all out, with Sharma taking 4-14 in 14 overs. Josh Dobson then played a captain’s innings for Wood Street and his 45 not out, well supported by Dan Saunders (31) and Jake Slyfield (23), saw the visitors home in 26 overs.
Grayshott III achieved their highest total at their ‘second home’, Broxhead Common, piling up 274 in 45 overs against Blackheath II. Harrison Ward dominated the innings with a superb 117 and number 8 Ross Owen made 51.
Skipper Ian Nolan led Blackheath’s resistance with 42 and Fred Martin-Dye made 39, but the visitors’ ten men were bowled out for 156, with Toby Joyce and Julian Oosthuizen sharing seven wickets.
