Farnham Town Running Club members celebrated the club’s successes at their annual awards night.
The club, initially founded in 2020, has gone from strength to strength and provides an inclusive space for people of all abilities to get involved, challenge themselves and make some new friends along the way. The club’s success has already been recognised in the community as they were named Farnham Sport Club of the Year 2023 in January at the Farnham Sports Awards.
The awards, which were introduced by Farnham town crier Michael Stephens, focused on significant achievements and some light-hearted moments that brought joy to club members. Members came together for an evening of food, drink and celebration.
The award winners were: Female Rookie of the Year – Rachel Sturdy; Male Rookie of the Year – Owen Hardy; Fashion Trendsetters – Julie and Chris Williams; Most Improved Male – Jack Jeffrey; Most Improved Female – Carla White; Worst Run Leader route – Pete Mulley; Funniest Club Moment – Sophie McGuinness and Jack Jeffrey; Run Leader of the Year – Susan Doherty; Members’ Member of the Year – Tony Newton; Contribution to the Club – Tanya Jeffrey; Chairman’s Award for long service to the Club – Stuart Williamson.
Farnham Town Running Club chairman Phillip Potter said: “I am so proud of everything the club has accomplished over the past year and these awards have really allowed our members the chance to reflect on such a brilliant year.
“I’d like to extend our thanks to our club sponsors, Aurora Legal, Melior Wealth and The Shepherd and Flock, without whom we would not be where we are.”
Anyone who wants to join Farnham Town Running Club should visit the club’s website or come along to one of the club’s Wednesday night club runs.
