Farnham Town manager Paul Johnson felt his side could have picked up all three points after drawing 1-1 at home to Ascot United in the Isthmian League South Central Division.

Owen Dean’s first-half goal was cancelled out by Anas Igozouln’s penalty as the points were shared.

“It was a competitive game,” said Johnson.

“Ascot played their part in it – I thought they were good.

“We were a bit off it with the ball but it looked like it was going to be a 1-0 game.

“Then a silly decision by Jordan Stepney has probably cost us the three points.

“There wasn't too much happening in the final third for both teams.

“Ascot were trying to be a threat from set pieces.

“They (Ascot) were comfortable on the ball. They were good with the ball but didn't really threaten so it's a little bit frustrating.”

Town led at the break, but Johnson admitted he asked for more from his players at half-time.

“I said we need to get better as the game goes on,” said Johnson.

“They (Ascot) put a lot of effort in in the first half and you could see in the last ten minutes their legs started to go.

“It was a matter of managing the first 15 minutes of the second half and being good in the last half hour, which almost paid off but not quite.”

Farnham nearly won the game late on when Adam Liddle’s effort was saved by Ascot keeper Mark Scott.

“We had a great chance to win it with Adam but it hasn't quite happened and we had to take a point,” said Johnson.

Johnson was full of praise for Ascot’s display after they gave his side a competitive match.

“Ascot are a good side and are definitely going to be in and among it at the top,” said Johnson.

“They were very good.”
