FARNHAM Town player James Thomas (pictured) is heading for the USA this month to take up a prestigious football scholarship.
The Farnborough Sixth Form College student will be joining Young Harris College in Georgia where he will have the opportunity to combine studies with playing high-standard football for the Mountain Lions team.
The scholarship has been gained through the assistance of PASS4Soccer Scholarships.
James, a member of Farnham’s first-team squad last season, secured his scholarship through the PASS4Soccer Scholarship Network which recognises both academic achievement and athletic ability.
It helped that he gave an impressive performance in the PASS4Soccer US Coach Showcase held at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre last year.
Places in the PASS4Soccer Network Program are now available for students seeking to enter a US university soccer programme in August 2017 and 2018.
