Farnham Town lost 2-1 at Hayes & Yeading United in the Isthmian League South Central Division.

The visitors created the first chance of the afternoon in the ninth minute when Harry Cooksley’s free kick found the unmarked Jack Dean, who headed wide.

Herson Alves gave the hosts the lead in the 16th minute when he nodded home from close range from Jude Mason’s free kick.

Town nearly got back on level terms on 20 minutes when Ryan Kinnane headed over from eight yards out.

Farnham went close again on the hour mark when Cooksley’s free kick found Dean in the box, but his volley at the near post was well tipped behind by home keeper Juliusz Pazio.

Tyler Hales doubled Hayes’ advantage on 74 minutes when he rifled a left-foot shot past Farnham keeper Zaki Oualah into the roof of the net.

Cooksley had a good chance to pull a goal back for the champions in the 80th minute, but he hit his effort straight at Pazio.

Kai Tanner pulled a goal back for Farnham in stoppage time when his effort found the bottom corner.

Farnham manager Paul Johnson was disappointed with his side’s performance.

“We created enough chances but we weren’t clinical enough,” said Johnson.

“It was a disappointing performance.

“You could tell it was a side who have already won the league against a side who have something to play for.

“Hayes are pushing for a spot in the play-offs and it showed.”

Farnham will host Kingstonian in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Town will receive the league title after the game, but Johnson wants his side to deliver on the pitch.

“We need to do our job on the pitch and get the result and then we can enjoy everything after the game,” said Johnson.
