Petersfield Town produced a superb performance to earn a comprehensive 6-1 victory at Wick in the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division.

Despite missing several first-team regulars the Rams came though a potentially difficult game at Wick in impressive style and picked up an emphatic victory.

With confidence boosted by their victories against Wincanton Town and Peacehaven & Telscombe, the Rams got off to the perfect start and took an early lead in the ninth minute when Dec Seiden chipped home keeper Keelan Belcher to break the deadlock.

Just six minutes later Asad Ssemwogerere was brought down in the box, and Seiden made no mistake with the resultant penalty to make it 2-0 to the visitors.

In the 22nd minute Harrison Cable added a third for the visitors with a low shot which beat Belcher.

The Rams did not have it all their own way as Wick always posed a threat, but the Petersfield defence held firm and restricted the home side to few clear-cut chances.

With half-time approaching Wick were having their most sustained spell of pressure in the match, but in the final few minutes of the half the Rams regained the upper hand.

In the final minute of the first half Cable weaved through the Wick defence to slot home and put the visitors in a very commanding position at the break.

For the most part the second half was more even, although the Rams’ pacy attack always posed a threat.

Any chance of a Wick comeback was effectively ended in the 73rd minute when Seiden was played through and he made no mistake in finding the back of the net to complete his hat-trick and make it 5-0 to the visitors.

Wick pulled a goal back in the 77th minute when they were awarded a penalty which was comfortably despatched by Josh Irish.

That was no more than a consolation goal for Wick, and the Rams restored their five-goal lead in the 88th minute when Will Webb unleashed a cracking shot from distance to make it 6-1 to the visitors.
