Frensham Pond Sailing Club Cadet (FPSC) sailors joined a 21-boat British team that went to Nieuwpoort, Belgium, to compete in the 2023 Cadet World Championship.
FPSC cadet class captain David Boddy said: “It was an amazing experience for these junior sailors to represent their country at the Cadet World Championship.
“Nieuwpoort can be a very challenging place to sail.
“It is a world away from the conditions our cadet sailors are used to at the pond.
“Over the course of the five-day event they had to contend with very strong winds and up to two-metre-high waves. I am very proud of them all.”
FPSC cadets achieved several top-ten placings in the series across the main and promotional fleets.
In the main fleet the best results were: George Little and Hugh Voysey scored a ninth, Amelie Whitehouse and Maddy Sherwood a fifth, Sam Nee and Audrey Guimali a third place, Sophia Sfaxi and Evie Boddy a fifth and Tom Shepherd and Joe Mycroft an eighth place.
In the promotional fleet Zachary Windibank and Alice Boddy scored a third and Alex McEwan and Amber Guimali a first place. Frensham cadets had two top-ten places overall in the promo fleet. McEwan and Amber Guimali came eighth and Windibank and Alice Boddy came ninth.
Nee and Audrey Guimali were the highest-placed FPSC boat in the main fleet in 17th.
